THIS MONTH’S FEATURED ARTISTS:

DANCING ON SUNSHINE… Rashada KhanBey

Rashida KhanBey is a performing artist, forthcoming author, and recent graduate with a degree in Theatre Performance.

She comes to us performing a divinely connective and communicative dance, dance of praise. Rashida believes praise dance today has become an extremely Eurocentric expression of worship. I believe Praise Dancers have lost their authentic voice as healers out of fear of getting ‘too naked’ with the delivery of their message. “its bringing the ‘secular’ back to the ‘sacred’ in one self, its getting naked with God and making the choice to live an unashamed and fully ERUPTED life daily.”

READ A PAGE IN HER BOOK….Storie Devereaux

A critically noted and lyrically gifted songwriter and talented Spoken Word Artist, Storie Devereaux has been known to embody the name she denotes.  Using monologue style performances, she takes her audience through a journey of story telling using her freedom of self-expression, and rhythmic cadences infused with Neo-Soul, Jazz, and Hip-Hop Soul.

She shares her unique sound and eclectic work with EPC’s Accept Variety, which has been described as being in a category of it’s own.   Ms. Devereaux is unquestionably an Artist with unlimited capabilities and she is definitely an Artist You Should Know.

DELISH DISH…Alyssa Julien

Chef, Caribbean Queen, Actress… and yes also a Spoken Word Artist.  Alyssa brings to the ‘Accept Variety’ stage an assemblage of poems flavored with love, spice, and longing.

Sage is a poet, activist, teacher and the founder of WORD! spoken word artists and activists a former DC poetry slam coach and one of the original members of Spoken Resistance and the performance group Sol y Soul.

CUPID’S BAD-ASS…Cruel Valentine

Dancing to the “Accept Variety” stage, is the bright and throbbing Cruel Valentine.  She has spent the past several years singing, acting and dancing her way across the nation. She is an independent performer, producer and teacher of the art of burlesque as well as a pin up model.

With extensive experience in theatre, music and dance, she is a triple threat and then some, fusing multiple styles in her performances. A true believer in doing whatever is necessary to tell a story, she is never afraid to “go there” or make a mess with her art.

MS. JAZZY VIRTUE…Patience

Patience Rowe is a heavy praying woman who has been daydreaming for years, poet, vocalist, and dreamer. A native of Washington, DC and current resident of Chicago, IL. Patience finds most of her inspiration in community artists. To the ‘Accept Variety’ show, she’ll grant us her lovely voice spoken and melodic and if you listen closely you may just find her heart between your ears.

 Cruel Valentine

This burlesque artist blends her training and experience in theatre, spoken word and sassology as well as vocal and instrumental music and dance to create a…rresting, multifaceted numbers. Flawlessly fusing jazz, hip hop, tap, ballet, swing, poetry, song, and performance art, she never refuses any opportunity to “go there”, make a mess, or stretch the limits of her art form.

Shea Coulee

International performance sensation and the ultimate adrogynous wet dream, Shea Coulee, is guaranteed to sashay her way into the spotlight. Inspired by the divas of yesteryear and stacked with a pair of gams that you can climb right to the high heavens, Shea Coulee is the butter that melts in your mouth.

Po’Chop

Po’chop hails all the way from Nonyabusiness. When Po’chop isn’t doing stuff you don’t need to know about, she’s giving you mouth watering moments and making you sizzle. You can’t fry, bake, or grill this juicy cut, you just gotta enjoy. Po’chop, even vegetarians want to take a bite out of her.
